Project Diary Update: The New Home is Finished

When a new home is finished, it’s exciting to get a look inside!

And if you’ve followed the Project Diary where we followed the Andersons, a family of five, building their two storey family home, you may be excited to see the finished project.

(It’s taken a while for us to get these images up!!)

The Andersons put their home on the market late in 2017, as an opportunity to move back to their homeland of New Zealand was too good to pass up (and Amelia designed that home too, so keep your eyes peeled as we follow the building of it!)

Amelia shared a little about the design of the home as part of the marketing material prepared by the real estate agent. You can also see below the images that were used to market the home.

It sold at auction to a lovely family who were excited about getting to call this place home.

If you haven’t followed the Project Diary, head here for an index of all the instalments. It’s packed full of top tips too. The Andersons gave us an incredibly insight into the process of building a new home that is functional, flexible and feels great. And Amelia worked with them remotely to assist in this process, stepping onto site for the first time at Week 17 of construction.

These are the real estate photographs …

Whilst compact in design and size, the home feels spacious and light-filled as it makes the most of the indoor / outdoor connection and its north-to-rear orientation

Project Diary Update New Home Kitchen and Butlers Pantry

The kitchen extends into a butler’s pantry that concealed a prep space and open shelving. Beyond, the laundry then opens to a drying court outside. You can also see (to the left of fridge / cupboards) a little study nook for homework and school bag storage.

A compact rear garden packs in lots of lifestyle with the outdoor living, pool and grassed area

Project Diary Update New Home Pool

The inground swimming pool is well-integrated with the outdoor living areas and easily supervised from inside the home.

The alfresco / outdoor living area spans across the width of the home at the rear

Project Diary Update New Home Master Bedroom

The owners wanted a dark master bedroom that felt intimate and a sanctuary. External screens on the windows protect the view to the street.

What do you think? Could you live here?
